Adira Metal Forming Solutions has created a robotised bending cell for the profile bending industry. This solution revolutionises the large-scale production process, giving it unequalled flexibility by making it possible to go from making one reference to the next with a speed incomparable to traditional bending processes.
This solution comes in response to the need for innovation in the industrial application of their client, NK Profiel. Adira Metal Formimg Solutions already has an increasing demand from the market for different types of profiles (C, C+, L, Sigma, Sigma +, U and Z). The reason NK Profiel ordered the project was based on its need to create a more versatile and more flexible alternative to the current bending process. A very short setup time was necessary, given that NK Profiel uses a large number of press brakes, which are necessary for large-scale production. However, when only small quantities are needed, the profitability of the press brake falls dramatically, as the setup can take several days.
Production rhythm, 24/7 efficiency
When compared to the manual process, the robotised bending cell allows increased production. These can range up to 5 mm in thickness and 12 metres in length. This demonstrates efficiency that is reflected in an uninterrupted production process, thus permitting a speedier, more effective response to market demands and needs.
The versatility of the equipment allows for shorter setup times, which enables a wide range of various products. NK Profiel explains: “We’ve had cases where we send several containers of profiles to a certain country and one of them gets lost for some reason, for example falling overboard. In cases such as these, we need to urgently replace a small amount of a certain batch. In this case, we would have to interrupt our production process to do this work, which caused major headaches. With the Adira system, this huge problem has disappeared completely.”

There were a number of infrastructure needs, which included foundations, connections with other equipment and the placing of handling equipment at the site.
